10-4 Services / Start-up Instructions
Follow the instructions below if your 10-4 cellphone was not activated and initialized by your authorized NorthernTel Mobility dealer.

The following section explains the two steps necessary to activate and initialize your 10-4 Service. These instructions are also available in PDF format.

Step 1: Activating the 10-4 feature

The 10-4 feature of your cellphone compatible with this service is inactive by default.

To activate the 10-4 feature of your cellphone:

  1. In the Main Menu, press MENU/OK.
  2. Scroll to Configuration (or Settings) and press MENU/OK.
  3. Scroll to 10-4 and press MENU/OK.
  4. Select Act/Disable and press MENU/OK.
  5. Highlight Activate and press MENU/OK.

Step 2: Initializing the 10-4 Service

To activate your 10-4 Service, you must initialize your cellphone on the NorthernTel Mobility 1X Network, or on the network of one of our partners by accessing our mobile browsing service. This operation is done ONLY ONCE.

Here is how to initialize your 10-4 Service:

  1. Press MENU/OK to access the main menu.
  2. Highlight Web and press MENU/OK.
  3. Select Français or English and press MENU/OK.
  4. When the Web menu is displayed, press on END/POWER to close the session.
  5. Your cellphone displays the stand-by window.

Now that the 10-4 Service is initialized, you are ready to use it.

Notice to business clients (with 9 10-4 cellphones and more) : The lists and business groups of organizations with more than 9 activated 10-4 cell phones on a partner package of their own must be created on-line using the specific toll for managing the Company’s contacts.
