Alert or Blurt Calling

When you press and hold the 10-4 button, wait for the confirmation tone, and begin talking right away – your voice will essentially “blurt” out on the other end. This is called a “Blurt” because you barge in and disturb the person at the other end. This can be distributive; however, there may be situations where it is appropriate.

Suggestion
A more “civilized” way of making a 10-4 call is pressing and releasing the 10-4 button to establish the link. The other party receives a signal that another person is trying to call (without your voice “blurting” out at the other end). That person can choose to answer your call or not.
